Both are completely acceptable — and so is anything else. Pencil, ink, watercolour, markers, charcoal, digital — the medium is your choice.Many urban sketchers draw directly in ink without pencil first; others prefer to sketch in pencil and then ink over it. Many use a combination. There is no rule.What matters is that you are drawing from direct observation on location, not what tool is in your hand.
