Urban sketching overlaps with both, but has its own distinct identity. What defines it is location and observation — not style, medium, or finish. An urban sketch can be loose and gestural, or tight and architectural. It can be done in ballpoint pen, watercolour, pencil, digital tools, or a combination. What it cannot be is drawn from a photograph or from imagination at home.Think of it as a visual diary kept in public, one real place at a time.
