Our first official sketch walk brought together a dozen artists at Manama Souq on a Friday morning — sketchbooks, folding stools and a lot of curious shopkeepers included.
Where we drew
We split into small groups around the gold souq entrance, the spice alleys, and the old Bab Al Bahrain gate — each spot giving a completely different sketch: architecture, texture, and portraits of vendors who were happy to be drawn (and occasionally posed for a second look).
What people made
By the end of the two hours we had everything from quick five-minute gesture sketches to fully washed watercolour pieces. A handful of those sketches are already in our Gallery — more will be added as artists send them in.
Next time
We’ll be back with another walk soon — check Events for the date, and bring a folding stool if you have one; souq alleys don’t offer much seating.
