Our Story
Urban Sketchers Bahrain (USk Bahrain) is the Bahraini chapter of Urban Sketchers, a global nonprofit organisation and movement that raises the artistic, journalistic and educational value of on-location drawing. We meet in Manama’s souqs, along the Corniche, in Muharraq’s alleyways and wherever else Bahrain has a story worth putting to paper — then we draw it, on the spot, in front of the subject.
What started as a handful of artists meeting informally on weekends has grown into a standing community of sketchers, students, architects, illustrators and total beginners, united by one manifesto: we draw what we see, from direct observation, wherever we happen to be.
Mission & Values
Draw on Location
Every sketch is made on the spot — no photo references. We record real moments, in real time.
Show the Everyday
Our sketches document ordinary life in Bahrain — the details that photographs and news reports overlook.
Welcome Everyone
No skill level required. We welcome first-time sketchers alongside professional illustrators and architects.
